Plant Milkweed and Nectar Plants
Save the Monarchs – Plant MilkweedMilkweed is critical to Monarchs since the caterpillars feed on the milkweed plants. With or without flowers, milkweed will attract the female butterfly to lay eggs on the plant. Don’t forget to provide nectar for the adult butterfly! A blooming milkweed plant is great, but some don’t bloom the first year. Providing another nectar source is important. Goldenrods and Asters are great sources of nectar for Monarchs and the other butterflies you see flitting around your butterfly garden.
